Race-day Prep

Race day is a busy day. We've prepared a race day checklist so you can have a great day on the water!

The week prior to race day:

  • Transportation! Aside from overnight trips, you are responsible for finding your own transport. Make sure you have a ride.
  • Check the weather. We paddle rain or shine.
  • Prepare your meals. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Here's a great site with info about what kinds of foods to bring. If you're thinking easy, some protein and carbs, and hydrating, then you're on the right track.

The day prior to race day:

  • Pack your bag! Don't forget your:
    • Prepared food
    • Water bottle
    • Jersey
    • Change of clothes
    • Paddle
    • Buttpad
    • Entertainment for downtime
    • Towel and/or a chair
  • Check where the race site is and prepare to be there at least 1 hour prior to our first race. Detailed information about each competition and a map of the site can be found below.
  • Sleep!

Race day:

  • Eat breakfast before you arrive to the race site.
  • When you arrive, get to know the race site
    • Where is our tent?
    • Where do we marshall?
    • Where are the life vests and paddles?
    • Where will we be warming up?
    • Check your equipment.
    • Watch a race start.
    • Inspect the boats & docks.
  • Remember to check in with your captains on race day know what time each of our races are at.
  • 30 minutes before our race time, get warmed up and make sure you keep your heart rate up! Watch this video for some warm up ideas:
