The Verdun DBC training camp is more than just a clever way to put in more practices before the big races. The training camp is a time to strengthen Club spirit, to give members an opportunity to get to know each other better, and take on the new racing season as a Club. All paddlers from Force and Impact participate in this one-day event on the Lachine Canal.
Training camps typically consist of lots of paddling, video review, lectures by guest speakers, and a Club barbeque. Each year, a new theme is integrated into the training camp, such as mental preparation, international travel, or injury prevention and management. The theme reflects the Club's goals for the current racing season.
Guest speakers address participants of the training camp on topics related to that year's theme.
The Verdun DBC training camp has proven to be a successful innovation that builds Club cohesion and spirit while improving team technique and performance.
